20-40 kpm speed limit imposed on S. Osmeña Blvd.
Cebu City– The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) will implement a speed limit of 20 to 40 kilometer per hour speed limit on newly reopened S. Osmeña Boulevard.
Citom Operations Division Head Joy Tumulak said some of vehicles using the newly concreted road were observed having a “drag race” after the boulevard was opened to the public last Tuesday.
The road had been closed for five months to pave the way for a Department of Public and Works and Highways’ (DPWH) road concreting project.
Tumulak said the new and wider road has eased the traffic, particularly from the Cebu South Coastal Road tunnel to the north.
He said, however, some motorists have started to go drag racing through the newly paved roads.
“We urge people to slow down to avoid accidents,” he said.
Tumulak said vehicles on the boulevard must slow down because there is an intersection at J. Luna Ave. corner S. Osmeña Blvd.
He said Citom is asking the public to follow the warning signs along the road.
Tumulak said, however, that CITOM cannot apprehend violators of the speed limit yet because the agency lacks speed guns.
