2014 national budget just as ‘greasy’ — Gabriela
The proposed P2.268-trillion national budget for next year “is just as greasy and teeming with pork” according to members of Gabriela.
Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan and Emmi De Jesus of the women’s party list issued this statement as Davao Rep. Isidro Ungab formally endorsed as “a formal amendment” to the proposed P2.268-trillion national budget the realignment of the P25.4 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to six government agencies.
“It is a trigger for hypertension. Lalong nakaka-highblood ang pagpapanggap [Their pretending triggers high-blood],” Ilagan’s statement said where she also branded the proposed national budget as “sugar-coated pork.”
De Jesus, for his part, said: “Panloloko lang lahat. Hindi naman inaalis ang PDAF. [It's all a lie. The PDAF wasn't removed.] The mere fact that legislators still have the discretion to choose which projects to endorse is proof that legislators’ pork barrel is very much alive.”
The woman lawmakers, along with other Makabayan bloc members are expected to file a resolution to re-allocate all pork funds towards specific items in the budget under agencies responsible for the delivery of basic social services like education, health, housing and welfare.
