P1.7-M shabu, drug pusher snagged in drug bust


BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a suspected drug pusher and seized shabu valued at P1.7 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Doongan here on Wednesday, April 17.

Police Regional Office 13-Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer identified the suspect as Bintong.

“The suspect was caught in the act during a buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-13, Regional Intelligence Division-13, Intelligence Unit of the Butuan City Police Office, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-13,” Ometer said.

Seized from the suspect were 255 grams of shabu, P15,000 marked money, a motorcycle, and drug paraphernalia.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft commended police for arresting the suspect.

“His name emerged from prior apprehensions of drug suspects. Thus, intensified surveillance was conducted leading to his arrest.” 

“Let this serve as a stern warning to those who are still involved in the illegal drug trade. Under the leadership of Police Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, chief, Philippine National Police, there is no slowing down in the PNP-Caraga’s crackdown against illegal drugs,” Kraft said.

He reiterated his directive to the police to redouble their efforts to achieve their goal of making Caraga a drug-free region in Mindanao. “This is our main goal.”

The 33-year-old suspect from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, faces drug-related charges.
