The state of calamity was declared less than a month after a similar declaration was made on March 22 for contagious respiratory disease pertussis or whooping cough.

The declaration paves way for the release of the quick response fund (QRF).

Chaired by Mayor Jerry Treñas, the CDRRMC  proposed a P12.5-million budget to address the water shortage.

The amount will be used to purchase potable water for affected areas.

The CDRRMC said that more than 23,000 people in 25 barangays here have been affected by the severe water shortage.
