30 illegal gamblers arrested in Agusan, Surigao


BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested 30 individuals for illegal gambling in the Agusan and Surigao provinces from April 20 to 21.

Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said P8,047 in bet money was seized from the suspects.

The PRO 13-Regional Operations Division said the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office carried out two operations, Agusan del Sur PPO also conducted two, Surigao del Norte PPO, three; Surigao del Sur PPO, five, and Butuan City Police Office, one.

Two bettors, an usher, and 27 persons involved in illegal cockfighting, tong-its, and Small-Town Lottery were caught, Ometer said.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft commended operating units for their achievements.

He vowed to eradicate illegal gambling in the region.

“These accomplishments reflect the concerted efforts of different police units in the region to curb illegal gambling, sending a stern warning to the public never to get involved in these activities.”
