At just 15, Ysabelle Palabrica stepped into the music scene with a memorable debut, reviving the beloved hit single 'Kaba," initially done by Tenten Munoz and Tootsie Guevara, during a recent media launch at the Music Box in Quezon City.

Kaba, a song that has resonated with many, was composed by the renowned Vehnee Saturno, also the composer behind Martin Nievera's Be My Lady, Sana Kahit Minsan (Ariel Rivera), and Till My Heartache Ends (Ella May Saison).

"I was happy when it was offered to me. And we know Kaba is an iconic song," said Ysabelle when asked about her reaction to doing a cover.

Saturno served as the single's producer and uploaded her recording to his recording company's YouTube, Facebook, and other social media outlets on April 1.

The rising singer always had a good speaking voice, prompting her mother to believe that her daughter could develop into a highly engaging singer. Her mother enrolled her in a singing workshop, and Ysaelle discovered she could sing.

Ysabelle got invited to join the teen group Krayz-X organized by talent manager Audie See. By teaming up with show and events director Obette Serrano, they put up a YouTube show "Krayz-X."

"She's a work in progress," said Jean, reminding her daughter about her commitment now that she has entered showbiz. "You just cannot back out in the middle of everything. Once you're in, you must always give your best."

Mayor Mark emphasized the importance of her daughter balancing her studies. "Huwag niyang pabayaan ang pag-aaral niya. Importante yun." The politician stated that he did not expect his daughter to pursue a career in show business, as their family is primarily involved in politics.

On Ysabelle, Saturno said: "Nag uumpisa pa lang siya. Wala namang naguumpisa na 100 percent magaling na magaling na. Pero may mga qualities na ako na nakita sa kanya. Importante pa rin na yung bata ang merong interest sa pagkanta at hindi yung nanay o tatay. Kasi kung yung nanay lang naman ang gusto siyang pakantahin, yung nanay na lang ang pakakantahin natin. Ysabelle is beautiful. Ang isang hit song will bring you somewhere. Level up ka niyan. You will be known."

It was Saturno who suggested that Ysabelle should do a cover first instead of singing an original song for her debut.

"Mahirap mag promote ng kanta ngayon. If the song is already popular, may recall na sa mga listeners. Bagets pa rin ang peg ng Kaba. Ysabelle's version is mas bata ang sound. Lagi kong sinasabi na ang kanta ay parang damit. Pag isusuot mo, pag kinanta mo, dapat bagay sa'yo," the popular composer said. "Mas happy and youthful ang version niya ng Kaba."

Ysabelle is excited about the launch of her single. Her mom said the music video for Kaba will be released soon. Kaba will first get a heavy promotion in the Visayas and Mindanao before it gets a full promo in Luzon.

"I'm always excited to work with a new artist. Kapag napasikat ko siya, I always say sa mga artist na nakatrabaho ko, she will be my living trophy. Kasi natulungan ko siya. So tulungan natin siya. Hindi ito short process. But her parents are willing to support her in achieving her dream," added Saturno.
