TWENTY-FIVE LGUs and hospitals in Eastern Visayas received brand-new ambulances.

The procurement of the emergency response vehicles was made under the Health Facility Enhancement Program of the DOH.

These ambulances are equipped with life-saving tools like defibrillators, laryngoscopes, suction machines, and immobilization devices, and communication equipment.

Among the recipients were the municipalities of Matag-ob, Bato, Mahaplag, Merida, and Villaba in Leyte; the municipalities of Naval, Cabucgayan, Biliran, and Maripipi in Biliran; Allen, Lavezares, Lope de Vega, and Gamay in Northern Samar; Gandara, Catbalogan  Rural Health Unit, Samar Provincial Hospital, and Calbayog District Hospital in Samar; Sogod and Liloan in Southern Leyte, and Lawaan, Dolores, and Salcedo in Eastern Samar.

Matag-ob Mayor Bernandino Tacoy said their ambulance would immensely help in delivering health services to the people.

“When I assumed as Matag-ob in 2022, Matag-ob did not have operational ambulances, now we already have five, which are a big help, especially in emergencies,” he said.

The first batch of ambulances were turned over in February and March to other LGUs in the region. A total of 70 units were distributed.
