P48-M marijuana torched in Kalinga


The Police Regional Office-Cordillera burned marijuana worth P48 million in an eradication operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga, on Labor Day.

Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., PRO-Cordillera director, said the plantation was discovered in a communal forest with an estimated land area of 8,000-square meters in Barangay Loccong.

Destroyed were 240,000 fully-grown marijuana plants valued at P48 million.

Samples were taken and will be submitted to the forensic unit for examination.

Peredo said the successful operation marks a significant milestone in the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat marijuana cultivation in the region.
