Man stabbed to death in Silay City restobar


BACOLOD CITY – A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death during a commotion inside a restobar in Barangay 4, Silay City, Negros Occidental before dawn on Wednesday, May 8.

Police identified the victim as Ryan Flores of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City.

Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said that Flores and his 13 companions, mostly teenagers, were having a drinking session at around 2:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old senior high school student and his 29-year-old cousin were also having a drinking session in the restobar.

The drunken high school student allegedly provoked the victim, resulting in a fistfight. The victim retaliated, triggering a commotion.

The high school student was allegedly armed with a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim thrice in his lower abdomen. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Darroca said the suspects escaped but they were arrested when they returned to the crime scene to get their motorcycle.

Homicide charges will be filed against the suspects who sustained injuries in the commotion.
