30,000 jobs at DOLE event
The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said at least 30,000 job vacancies will be out for grabs in a series of job fairs to commemorate the agency’s 80th anniversary next week from Dec. 6 to 10.
In a statement, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said about 10,000 of these vacancies will be available in the three-day job fair in Ilocos Region.
Citing a report from DOLE regional office, she said about 28 local companies and 21 licensed recruitment agencies will participate in the three job fairs.
The events will be held on the following dates: 6 December at the Robinsons’ Place in Calasiao, Pangasinan; 9 December at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Capitol in Vigan City; and 10 December at the Pangasinan Provincial PESO in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Baldoz said another series of job fair will also be held in Western Visayas, where there will be about 18,000 available positions. The job fair will be held at the 3rd level of Robinson’s Place-Iloilo (Mabini Wing) on 6 December.
The events will be open between 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Baldoz urged workers, who were recently displaced from the onset of super typhoon “Yolanda,” to seize the opportunity to look for alternative employment.
She said the DOLE-Region 6 will also set up a special desk to profile and accommodate the needs of typhoon victims.
Baldoz reminded interested applicants to bring their resumé, transcript of record, 2 x 2 photos, training certificates, certificates of employment, if any, and passport (for overseas employment) to ensure smooth applications.
