BOBBY VELASCO singing
for Café de Malate habitués

Bobby’s Café on its 31st year

Bobby Velasco’s Café de Malate could be considered the most successful watering hole in Metro Manila having been thriving for more than three decades already.

Café de Malate maintains its viability thanks to good music (from its nightly singers and in-house pianist), superb food (bestsellers include the crispy pata and the buttered chicken), and the owner himself.

To please his friends and other habitués of the place, Bobby sings occasionally at Café de Malate, which has transferred to its new and permanent location along Agoncillo St. in a building owned by him. It was inaugurated recently with no less than former President now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada as special guest.

Several years ago, in an article published in the old Panorama, it was erroneously written that Café de Malate was located along Agoncillo St. “Nagkatotoo ’yung sinulat ni Chando Morallos,” Bobby said.
