MANILA, Philippines --- National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Director Leonardo Espina recognized and awarded last Monday the Medalya ng Kagalingan (PNP Medal of Merit) to eight policemen from Marikina City for successfully arresting suspects in a shooting incident that occurred last Feb. 24 in Marikina City.
The eight policemen who were feted by Espina were Chief Insp. Eduardo J. Gillera; SPO1 Marvin Cruz; SPO1 Dominador Pimentel Jr.; PO2 Joselito Genobili; PO1 Jason Villanueva; PO1 Marvin De Guzman; PO1 Al-Nizaar Sappayani; and PO1 Alain Ambona.
Espina said the eight policemen successfully arrested Nassib Dimaagal and Adrian Cartajena Dela Cruz who were responsible in shooting to death Arnel Borre last Feb. 24 on Ilaw Street, Doña Petra in Barangay Tumana, Marikina City.
He said the operation against Dimaagal also wounded PO1 Villanueva when Dimaagal fired at the lawmen. The police officers returned fire. Dimaagal survived the gunfire and was eventually arrested.
After the ceremony, Espina distributed to the NCRPO personnel 2,900 copies of the Holy Bible given by the Philippine Bible Society (PBS) for their spiritual enhancement and guidance.
Nora G. Lucero, general secretary of the Philippine Bible Society who serves as a guest of honor and speaker during the awarding ceremony held at the Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, encouraged the NCRPO’s men and women to read the Bible everyday.
Lucero also tried to inspire them by quoting Biblical passages and challenged them to uplift the image of the PNP by performing their duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively with the presence and guidance of God in their hearts.
The NCRPO chief thanked the PBS for their cooperation and support to NCRPO and acknowledged the importance of God’s words and prayers in performing daily duties and responsibilities on enforcing the law without fear or favor.
