Superintendent Pedro Sanchez, commander of the Masambong Police Station, identified the student as Rodesto Mishael Laserna, 16.

In the meantime, he said that they have yet to learn from the hospital what could have caused the student's death.

Following the incident, the PSHS eventually declared a half-day to students.

Sanchez said that Laserna, who belongs to section IV-Tau, reportedly collapsed at around 9 am earlier today during graduation rehearsals inside the Philippine Science High school.

The student was with his classmates at the campus gymnasium when he suddenly collapsed during practice.

After collapsing, the unconscious Laserna was initially brought to the school clinic.

Sanchez said that Laserna was eventually rushed to the Philippine Children Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Lea Mislang.
