After months of speculations about a possible transfer, singer-actor Christian Bautista officially became Kapuso on March 20 when he signed a three-year exclusive contract with GMA Network, Inc. in the presence of GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, and GMA OIC for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable.

“It’s been really a good experience our talks, our negotiations, and finally, I’m here. At instantly ay na-feel ko po ’yung welcome ng mga tao – ang sarap,” he said in an interview aired on “24 Oras.”

In a release, he was also quoted to have said of the change, “bagong taon, bagong makakatrabaho at bagong bahay.”

Christian’s first stop as Kapuso is on the variety show “Party Pilipinas” this Sunday where he is set to “reunite” with Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go. Christian and Mark are part of the so-called champions’ circle and both used to be mainstays on the rival show. Rachelle, on the other hand, is Christian’s ex-girlfriend.

“I’m very, very excited kasi we can make wonderful music together…” Christian said.

Asked who among GMA-7 stars he is most interested to work with, the singer-actor singled out Marian Rivera.

“Pero, of course, kung ano din ang feel ng network na bagay,” he quickly added.

Gozon and Duavit are excited to have Christian on board. Gozon finds the singer a “welcome vision to the station” while Duavit said that “sisiguraduhin natin na ang kanyang husay at kakayahan ay lalong mas maiparating, hindi lamang sa kanyang mga taga-hanga, kundi pati sa lahat ng ating mga Kapuso.”

Christian is the multi-Platinum artist behind the hits “The Way You Look At Me,” “Color Everywhere,” and “Beautiful To Me,” among others. The singer is also popular in other Asian countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, especially after starring on Pan-Asian musical drama, “The Kitchen Musical.”

In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment last year just when his contract with another network was about to expire, Christian said when asked about his career plans: “I want to show a different side of me, excite my loyal fans and gain new ones, fight for my career. I need to keep the fire inside me alive.”
