CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite---A Korean citizen allegedly committed suicide last Thursday by hanging himself and slashing his wrist with a sharp instrument at a construction site in Barangay Lalaan II, Silang town, a Police Provincial Office (PPO) report said Friday.
It was one of the two suicide incidents that were reported on Thursday in Cavite province. The second incident, whose victim was a woman barangay (village) worker, happened at Acacia, Brgy. Malainen Bago in Naic town, it was reported.
The PPO report said that the lifeless body of one Hoon Byoung Jin, a Korean national, was discovered hanging with a black leather belt looped around his neck and with a wound in the left wrist at an under construction house in Lalaan II at 6 a.m. Thursday.
The local police identified Jin through a Citibank Visa card that was found in his wallet.
Recovered in the area was a bladed cutter and four pieces of tissues with bloodstains.
Police Officer I Isagani Alvaro Estrada, case investigator, has yet to ascertain the motive of the reported suicide incident.
Jin, about 50, wore a striped polo shirt, black khaki pants and black rubber shoes when his body was found in the area.
One Lee Poong Ki of Tagaytay City District Office, also a Korean, and a Scene of the Crime Operation (SoCO) team led by Chief Inspector Jericho Angelito Q. Cordero also went to the scene to look into the incident.
The other victim was identified as Adoracion Vergara Oliveros, 62, a barangay health worker and a resident of Acacia, Malainen Bago.
The PPO report said Oliveros was discovered hanging with a thin bed sheet looped around her neck inside her house at 5:30 a.m. also on Thursday by alleged live-in partner one Esteban P. Oliveros.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital.
PO1 Mark Allan Arcusa, officer-on-case, said the motive of the suicide has yet to be determined.
