Maui ends hiatus, has a new movie
After a five-year absence from the silver screen, sexy Viva Hot Babe Maui Taylor is making a comeback via the movie “Torotot,” a collaboration by Viva Films and Production 56.
In the movie helmed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, Maui is pitted against a newcomer, Precious Adona who is introduced in the sexy flick.
So will it be a battle of the “Hot Babe ng Bayan” as Maui has been called, and the “Playmate ng Bayan,” which is the title Precious has earned on account of her sexy photos in the May issue of FHM magazine? But Maui said this isn’t a battle of anything between her and Precious. “Binigyan ko siya ng pagkakataon to shine because kailangan niya ito dahil nga introducing siya sa pelikulang ito.”
Maui, who turned 27 last June 28, will fuel once more the fantasies of the male populace who certainly won’t be able to resist wanting to see her once more on the big screen, what with her smooth skin, and eternally youthful and fresh appearance. But of course her sexiness and beauty isn’t just what makes Maui attractive to both men and women moviegoers. Because she has proven to be a fine actress in her past performances, and because her comeback movie deals with the intricacies of relationships.
Maui said she’s proud of her love scenes with Andrew Schimmer in “Torotot.” “Ikinababaliw ko ang mga yon dahil kung ano-ano ang mga ginawa namin. Just watch out for this movie!”
As to Precious, moviegoers will definitely find her as appealing as Maui, if not more so. Because men who go for statuesque beauties will find plenty to like in Precious. She is as tall as Maui is petite, and her bronze skin and regal bearing are certainly exciting to male viewers. About her eye-popping FHM cover, Precious is happy of the public’s response to it. “Sabi nila it’s one of the sexiest covers of FHM ever.” (For the information of everyone, the people behind FHM had to order a second print run of their May issue because it sold out quickly, thanks to Precious sexy photos.)
‘Torotot” will open in theatres nationwide on July 23.

Young actress is also a singer
Glaiza de Castro is already a recognized actress, having earned nominations from the Golden Screen Awards for Best Actress in Cinemalaya’s recent indie/digital movie “Still Life,” and Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a good daughter turned drug user in another film.
Glaiza is now one of Dyna Music Entertainment Corp.’s recording artists. Dyna launched her self-titled album “Glaiza” recently at Metro Phi Resto Bar in Ortigas, and the songs therein was successfully showcased through a semi-concert. The album featured the carrier single “Paano.”
The album launch came close on the heels of Glaiza’s highly rated afternoon TV soap opera in which she reprised the role of Sharon Cuneta as the oppressed Sara who’s gifted with a brilliant voice in the blockbuster film.
“Glaiza,” which is now available at all music stores nationwide, has a repertoire of beautiful pop songs and some meaningful ballads including “Sana,” “Ikaw Lamang Ang Gwapo,” “Sinabi Mo Sa Akin,” “Sayang Lang,” and three English songs “Hold You Once Again,” “Someone” and “How Can I Make You See.” All of these songs are published, produced and marketed exclusively under the iconic label Dyna Music Entertainment Corp. through the supervision of Executive Producer Howard G. Dy who followed in the footsteps of his father, Dr. James Go Dy, acknowledged as the country’s “Father of Filipino Recording.”

Perry Escaño rises to top Indie ranks
“Slowly but surely,” this is what Perry Escaño considers his guiding principle now that he is inching his way into the world of entertainment. Escaño, who aside from being a theater actor (a junior member of Gantimpala Theater Actors’ Company) belongs to the elite roster a poll billed as the top-twenty independent film actors. Of course, he wants the public to know the projects he is currently undertaking for film and television.
His independent film projects include “Ranchero,” a Cinemalaya Finalist where he portrays the supporting role JO3 Andy Balikas, a sympathetic jail guard and friend of Ricardo (Archi Adamos). The film focuses on the story of two convicts who prepare the meals inside a jailhouse and how the food they cook affect the very lives of the inmates they serve.
“Ranchero” is one of the films set for showing in the Paris Film Festival this month and it is the only one permitted for pitching to possible French film market buyers.
In the can and for submission to the 2008 Cine Manila International Film Festival is 'Magkaibang Direksyon' (Different Direction) where Perry essays the lead role of Father Gary, a former womanizer turned priest. The film plays with the idea of how criminals are sometimes more religious than people living “normal” lives and presents a parallelism between the lives of the young priest and a colorful pimp. Directors of the film are Christian Fabros and Jamieson Lee.
By the end of this month, he starts shooting Green Lantern: Pinoy, another leading role for him as Hal Jordan, under the direction of John Wong, this film pokes on the Pinoy’s super hero fixation.
