Gladys Reyes reiterates support for Iglesia ni Cristo's political stand

Gladys Reyes did a Jaclyn Jose, defending Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) from bashing after it endorsed UniTeam presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

On Instagram, the 44-year-old noted how she respects the decision of INC.

"Ako po at ang buo naming pamilya ay mananatiling kaisa ng aming pamamahala sa loob ng Iglesia Ni Cristo at patuloy na ipatutupad ang kaisahan, dahil ito po ay nakasulat sa banal na kasulatan, sa 1 Corinto 1:10 na wag magkabaha-bahagi at magkaroon ng isa lamang paghatol (o pagboto)," she related.

"Ito po ay ipinatutupad sa loob ng Iglesia sa simula't simula pa lamang. Huwag din po sana lagyan ng kahulugan ang kulay ng aking kasuotan nuong nakaraan, dahil yun lamang ang color motiff para sa Mothers Day Special na aming ginawa at wala na pong ibang ibig sabihin," she added.

She hopes respect will prevail.

"Ako po ay patuloy na maninindigan sa aking pananampalataya, dumating man ang pag-uusig, di patitinag. Higit sa lahat, sana ay manaig pa rin po ang respeto at pang-unawa sa isa't isa, magkaiba man po ng pananaw ang iba," she ended.

Note that INC is known for “bloc voting” wherein the church expects its members to vote for candidates it endorses.

Aside from the Marcos-Duterte duo, the INC has also endorsed the following senatorial bets for the May 9 polls: Guillermo Eleazar, Robin Padilla, Jinggoy Estrada, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Miguel Zubiri, Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero, Jejomar Binay, Alan Peter Cayetano, Sherwin Gatchalian, Mark Villar, and Joel Villanueva.
