The successive typhoons that struck the country in a matter of days had raised the water level of dams including the Angat Dam which supplies water to 90 percent of Metro Manila.
In an interview on Wednesday, a PAGASA hydrologist noted that the water level in Angat Dam taken at 5 p.m. was at 205 meters which is a few meters away from its high normal level of 210 meters.
The spilling level of the dam is at 217 meters.
Hydrologist Richard Orendain, in an interview over GMA News, said that the weather bureau can still manage such water elevation since by December 1 the level will be raised from 210 meters to 212 meters.
He noted that this will enable them to store water in preparation for the summer months.
PAGASA said it will determine by mid-December if Angat Dam's water level will be sufficient to supply Metro Manila during summer.
PAGASA also noted that the water level of the Ipo Dam which catches the water from the Angat Dam reached 101.14 meters on Wednesday afternoon, above the spilling level of 101 meters.
Due to this, the Ipo Dam has been placed on red alert.
In the event water is released from this dam, areas like Angat, Norzagaray, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliwag, Pulilan, Plaridel, and Hagonoy in Bulacan will be affected.
Meanwhile the water level in La Mesa Dam has reached 79.32 meters which is drawing near to its 80.15-meter spilling level.
If water is released from La Mesa Dam, some areas in Quezon City, Valenzuela City and Malabon will be flooded.
Orendain warned the residents living near Tullahan River to take precautionary measures.
