Biñan council revokes permit of bus firm
BINAN CITY, Laguna – The sangguniang panlunsod here headed by Vice Mayor Walfredo Dimaguila upon mention of Councilor Jose Magtanggol Crait, chairman of the city council’s committee on Transportation and Communication, approved a resolution revoking the permit to operate of JAC Liner upon finding during a hearing that the same bus firm has allegedly no legal franchise from the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Records showed that JAC Liner allegedly submitted fake documents to the city council prompting JAM Transportation to file a protest which reached the office of Mayor Lyn-Lyn Naguiat who in turn ordered an investigation to protect the interest of the riding public. JAM Transportation union members appreciated the city council’s action, which according to them gave justice to the workers who were financially affected by the more than three months illegal operation of the bus firm.
As this developed, the union members hoped that the LTFRB now headed by Alberto Suansing will uphold the decision of the city council, which showed its strong political will on not tolerating the alleged unlawful operation of the public utility firm. (DNM)
