More sanctuaries for fish in Biliran
Naval, Biliran -- To give more areas for fish and marine species to regenerate and thrive within the municipal waters of this island province, and thereby provide more income to municipal fisher folk, the provincial government here, through the Provincial Fishery Office, is set to launch four more marine sanctuaries within the year.
Lailane Comadizo, provincial fishery officer, said three of these will be in Biliran town, which will be the Julita Fish Sanctuary, the Bato Shell Sanctuary, and the Busali Shell Sanctuary; and the other one will be the Jamorawon Fish Sanctuary in Almeria town.
These are in addition to 14 already existing fish sanctuaries namely: Villa Enage Fish Sanctuary in Biliran town, Lo-ok Fish Sanctuary in Almeria, the Sambawan Marine Reserve in the island municipality of Maripipi, Bool West Fish Sanctuary in Culaba, Uson Fish Sanctuary and Bariis Fish Sanctuary in Caibiran, and three in Kawayan town which are Inasuyan, Burabod, and Masagaosao fish sanctuaries.
