3 nabbed in Malate drug bust
Three individuals, including two Korean nationals, were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Malate Wednesday morning.
Police nabbed ShyrelTumbali, 33; Yunsung Le, 49; Hyun Kisuk, 60 at around 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 12 along San Andres Street.
The undercover agent successfully purchased P200 worth of “shabu” from Tumbali leading to the apprehension of the latter together with her cohorts.
However, Hyun tried to escape by violently resisting the arrest but failed.
Pieces of evidence recovered were a sachet of shabu, a transparent canister containing illegal drugs, a strip and roll of aluminum foil, and P200 marked money.
The suspects are now detained at the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 9 and faced charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Ria Fernandez)
Pedicab driver caught using shabu
A 23-year-old pedicab driver was arrested while using “shabu” in Intramuros, Manila early morning last Tuesday.
Ariel Sebastian Magtanong, resident of No. 529, Solana Street of the said district, was caught in the act sniffing the above-mentioned illegal drugs at about 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 11 by elements of Intramuros Police Community Precinct (PCP) who were patrolling around.
Authorities seized a transparent glass tube with traces of “shabu” and a yellow disposable lighter from the suspect.
Thereafter, Magtanong was sent behind bars, facing a rap in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Ria Fernandez)
Would-be-cop shot dead
A would-be-cop was killed after he was shot dead by a still unidentified armed suspect while on board his motorcycle before midnight on Tuesday.
The victim was identified by police as Ron Christopher Paulino, 30, a criminology graduate and resident of Villanueva Village, Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 11:00 in the evening along Bethlehem Street corner Jordan Street, Sitio Nazareth, Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City.
Police said that Paulino had just gone from the house of a certain Mary Gail Cabasan along Betlehem Street, Sitio Nazareth, Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City whom he visited.
When the victim was about to leave and was on board his motorcycle, the unidentified gunman suddenly appeared and shot him several times before fleeing to an unknown direction. The victim died on the scene.

Valenzuela's 2014 No. 1 most wanted falls
After eluding arrest for six years, the Valenzuela City Police Station's number one most wanted person in 2014 was arrested in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday morning.
Police identified the suspect as Roberto Lescoton Givera, alias Reynaldo Malonzo Jr., 31, native of Abalos Bukid, Gen. T. De Leon, Valenzuela City, resident of Barangay Tamblon, Cagayan de Oro.
Givera is tagged in the killing of Domingo Dimas, 36, office staff of then-city councillor and now Vice Mayor Lorena Natividad, resident of S. De Guzman Street, Parada, Valenzuela City back in November 20, 2012.
According to reports, Dimas sustained more than 30 stab wounds. Givera also carted away some of the victim's possessions, including three phones and P50,000 in cash.
Police Chief Inspector Rhoderick Juan of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch said an informant bared the suspect's whereabouts to authorities.
According to the informant, the suspect also hid in Iligan City to evade arrest.
After a week of intelligence operations, police nabbed Givera in his house on the strength of an arrest warrant issued on July 31, 2013 by Judge Maria Nena Santos of the Valenzuela City Regional Trial Court.
"Masaya ang Pasko ng pamilya ng victim, pati si Vice Mayor kasi nabunutan siya ng tinik (The victim's family will be having a merry Christmas. Vice Mayor, too, because she now feels relief)," Juan said.
"We're very happy, too, because we were able to give justice to the victim. This only proves that justice never sleeps and the long arms of the law will soon get to you," he added.

Fire hits industrial warehouse in Valenzuela
An industrial warehouse along Barangay Rincon in Valenzuela City was gutted by fire on Tuesday morning.
Fire investigator FO1 Clarita Isabel Catangui estimated the worth of damages at about P5 million.
Investigation showed that a certain Maria Solidad Recto was wrapping plastic cups in the warehouse when she saw fire inside their barracks.
The fire broke out at around 8:32 a.m. and reached third alarm at 8:55 a.m.
It was put out at about 12:55 p.m.
Catangui said the fire quickly spread due to the light materials inside the barracks including mattresses and clothes.
The case prober said the blaze was contained in the warehouse and did not spread to the residential area behind it due to a firewall.
No casualties were recorded while two people sustained minor injuries in the fire, Catangui said.
The Valenzuela City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said 20 firetrucks were sent to put out the blaze.
Investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. (Minka Tiangco)
Top 9 most wanted, 45 others nabbed in Muntinlupa
The Muntinlupa City Police arrested the top 9 most wanted person and 45 others in a week-long series of operations.
Under the crackdown campaign Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO), confiscated from the 46 offenders were drug paraphernalia, weapons and ammunitions.
These included two .38 caliber revolvers, one 9mm caliber pistol, one hand grenade, one 10-inch balisong knife, sets of live ammunition and 38 heat-sealed plastic sachet with white substance suspected to be shabu.
Muntinlupa police chief Senior Supt. Gerardo Umayao said the police conducted the series of operations to implement arrest warrants and anti-illegal drugs and anti-illegal gambling operations.
Among the apprehended was top 9 most wanted person Bobby Abillo, 37, of San Guillermo Street, Putatan, Muntinlupa for robbery. He is now detained at the Muntinlupa Police Station.
