A person with disability (PWD) turned over coins and bills amounting to 12,390 to Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro for the victims of Typhoon "Ulysses." 

According to Jasper Justo, a volunteer at the Marikina city hall, Romy Menil collected the money from days of begging. Menil, a stroke victim is from Brgy. Mambugan in Antipolo City.

"Nakita ko kasi malayo pa lang si Mang Romy akay-akay nung isang lalaki papasok ng city hall ng Marikina.  Kala ko manghihingi o lalapit ng tulong, e yung umaakay sa kanya eh isang kagawad pala ng Brgy. Mambugan, Antipolo City. Itong si Mang Romy Menil ay PWD stroke patient at 50 , namamalimos pero hindi po para sa kanya.  Para po pala sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong Typhoon sa Marikina (I saw Mang Romy being guided by a man inside the city hall. I thought he was going to ask for help.  I did not know that the person guiding him was a barangay councilor of Brgy. Mambugan, Antipolo City. Mang Romy is a 50-year old stroke patient.  He begged on the streets not for himself, but for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses in Marikina)," Justo told MB Online.

Mang Romy went to Mayor Teodoro and directly handed over his donations.

"Halos lahat po ng nandun ay medyo naiyak dahil yung isang PWD na namamalimos na kala natin ay manghihingi ng tulong eh sya pa pala yung magbibigay ng tulong para sa mga taga Marikina (Almost everyone had a moist eye when he handed over his donation because we thought that a PWD begging on the street is only doing it for himself. But no. He was doing the sacrifice for the flood victims of Marikina)," Justo said.

Mang Romy reportedly saw the dire situation of Marikina residents and donated the aims to help in his small way. 

"Proud po si Mayor Marcy kay Mang Romy kaya ang sabi nito ay hindi po hadlang kung tayo ay may karamdaman basta po tayo ay bukas tumulong sa kapwa natin (Mayor Marcy is proud of Mang Romy.  He said a disability is not a hindrance if one wants to help those in need),” Justo added.

Marikina is among the cities devastated by Typhoon "Ulysses." 

The typhoon caused massive flooding in the city prompting the local government to declare a state of calamity in Marikina. 

Teodoro estimated the damage caused by "Ulysses" in the city at P30 billion.
