First time voters told: Register early
KALIBO, Aklan – The Commission on Elections called on first time voters to visit the Comelec offices in the region and register for the 2010 national and local elections.
Comelec regional director Atty. Dennis Ausan said their offices are accepting applications for registration
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the registration deadline on October 31.
“There are a significant number of first time registrants who have not yet registered. Those who would want to inquire and update their registration are encouraged to visit the Office of the Election Officer in their area,” he said in an interview by DyRU Super Radyo Kalibo.
Ausan said first time voters should register during the summer break to minimize queues and speed up the registration process.
Kalibo local election officer Lorena Tumbagahan said the Comelec is using a data capturing machine to facilitate the registration of voters.
