Yes, for a long time now Sheryl Cruz has been Geoff Eigenmann’s crush. Sheryl herself admitted this, laughing as she said Geoff was not even 10 yet when he said the actress was his big crush.

“His mom, Gina Alajar, and I used to work together in our younger days and Gina would tag along Geoff to our ‘That’s Entertainment’ show and that was where he saw me. At sabi nga niya noon, crush daw niya ako. Nakakatuwa lang na ngayon, magkatrabaho na kami ni Geoff and he is such a big man now!” Sheryl said.

Sheryl and Geoff play two of the major characters in GMA-7’s new show “SRO Cinemaserye” that premiered last Thursday, March 26. The pilot episode (which will run for eight weeks) is entitled “Ganti” and as the title implies it is about vengeance with Marvin Agustin playing the man consumed by this overwhelming, if absorbing desire for revenge. And if you watched the first part you must have been pleasantly shocked to see how torrid and passionately Sheryl and Marvin’s kissing scenes were. Well, as Marvin said, it was needed because they just got married and were on their honeymoon, “at siyempre may mga kissing at bed scenes.”

Anyway, it was with excitement that Sheryl said, “it’s nice and refreshing to be working with all of them, especially Geoff of course.”

Geoff, the next Gabby Concepcion?

Geoff has been dubbed the “next Gabby Concepcion,” maybe because of his facial similarity with the once matinee idol. He is flattered he said but more importantly, Geoff said he is very happy that he’s been offered the role in SRO Cinemaserye’s “Ganti,” although he wasn’t the first choice (it was JC de Vera, who turned it down). “Kahit pa panglimang choice ako, I don’t mind,” he said. “I’m very happy where I am now. I’m learning a lot of things, at positive lahat ng natutunan ko sa GMA-7.”

Geoff’s contract with ABS-CBN has expired and so he moved over to the Kapuso Network. “Everyone here has been nice and professional, my experience is great so far. Everyone has given me a warm welcome, so I have no complaint whatsoever.”

In “Ganti,” Sheryl plays Viola Ojeda, a mother who abandons her own child for a more comfortable and settled life. Marvin is Jacob Manansala, who will fight tooth and nail to gain back the riches taken from his father. Geoff is Kevin Rodriguez, the son who wickedly schemes for power and wealth.

Completing the casting coup for “Ganti” are Maxene Magalona as Eloisa, the assistant/protégé of Viola who conspires with Jacob in planning Viola’s downfall; Bianca King as Janelle, the plastic surgeon girlfriend of Kevin who supports all his plans; Daria Ramirez as Adella, the governess who adopted Kevin; and Arci Munoz as Annie, the devoted adopted daughter of Adella. Make a date with them every Thursday night, after “Fated to Love You,” only on GMA.

By the way, “Ganti” is directed by multi-talented Dominic Zapata who works with a pool of creative screenwriters headed by Jun Lana.
