Chris Cayzer just wants his music heard!

April 3, 2009, 2:18pm

Chris Cayzer is back and his goal is simple – to make his original music heard!

He was only 18 years old when he cracked into the music scene two years ago with his self-titled album under NuGen Records. Looking back, he felt that what was pushed more was the music his record producer thought fitted his personality. Though he had some original songs in his first album, he should have wanted to offer more of his compositions.  But then he didn’t have much control of his music and album at that time.

Now Chris is working on his second album and he is determined to put more original songs in it. He has learned his lesson well and is now concentrating on pushing his own kind of music for his listeners to enjoy.

“I’m working with my own band now and I promised the band that I would deliver more original compositions in my new album. I’m really excited about this album that I hope the fans are willing to wait to listen to my new songs,” expressed Chris.

He added that his new manager, Leo Dominguez, was also instrumental in giving him more confidence in an all-original songs album.

“This album is more personal because I just changed managers and my manager now has really shown great interest in my original compositions. I really want to get this done because right now, I’m on ‘S.O.P.’ I’ve guested in GMA-7 shows and I really can’t be more grateful. So this album would come at the right time for me,” he said.

According to Chris, he still plays his guitar and he practices a lot with his band.

“I really found the perfect guys for my band. These are people who are willing to stand by me, are patient and are willing to do what it takes to help me promote the album in mall shows and more. This new album is really motivating me plus the band is certain to add new flavors to my songs.”

From his stint as a first-time recording artist, Chris said “I learned a lot. What has kept me here was just I’m willing to be patient and really count my blessings. Things are not going to come straight away and you really have to work hard for it and get your music across,” he replied.

He was actually offered to be part of reality TV shows but Chris opted not to join because he believes that he doesn’t have to be on TV shows for people to listen to him sing. He’d rather do it the traditional way like his idols in the music business.

“These people inspire me. I mean you don’t need to be on TV to be famous and then people will just like your music because of that. They have to like your music for what it is, the sound and the substance. So that is something I’m trying to prove to the crowd right now,” he shared.

If Chris Cayzer made people feel that he left the music industry, there’s truth to that. He did leave his days as a recording artist but was still in the music scene as a VJ for the music channel MYX for The Filipino Channel.

“I realized I wasn’t going anywhere with my music so I just had to say stop it, go to GMA and change network, and go back to the local scene. I’m acting on it and I’m working on my album and it’s up to my manager which way he wants to put me in and I’m really grateful that things are beginning to roll again,” he related.

As to why he decided to go back to recording, he said “There was actually a turning point. When I was doing VJ work, I kind of realized that I was like do I really, really enjoy this? Or is my passion really music? And then I realized why I became a VJ because my passion is music. So it’s pretty much going back into the source, the main root of them all which is my music.”

By the way, you  can  catch a live performance of Chris Cayzer with Lovi Poe today, April 4, at the TechnoWave at the 3rd Level of IL Terrazo Mall, Tomas Morato, Quezon City. In the show entitled “A Night 2 Remember,” Chris promises the audience will have fun with him and Lovi.
