Patti Page in Manila

Patti Page is coming to Manila. Yes, the singer behind some of the biggest hits of the ’50s through the ’90s, is due to arrive in the Philippines for a special concert to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Dubbed “Patti Page: The Greatest Hits Tour,” the show is set for May 8 at the Araneta Coliseum, with a second performance at the Grand Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City on May 10. Now in her 80s, Page is still actively performing and touring, and this stop in Manila is to re-introduce her music to a whole new generation of fans.
If you’re familiar with songs like “Tennessee Waltz,” “Mocking Bird Hill,” “How Much Is That Doggie In The Window,” “You Belong To Me,” “Changing Partners,” “This Is My Song” and “Unchained Melody,” then you’re familiar with the music of Patti Page, who is one of the biggest-selling female artists of all time, with record sales of over 100 million.
Although she started her career in pop music, Page shifted to country toward the ’70s and became a success in that genre too, charting several singles on the Billboard Country charts and becoming one of the few country artists to chart in five separate decades. Other artists to have achieved that feat include Eddy Arnold and George Jones, both country music legends.
In the 1990s, Page founded her own record label, C.A.F. Records, and in 2003, released a children’s album. But the high of her post 80s career came in 1998 when she recorded her first live album, “Live at Carnegie Hall: The 50th Anniversary Concert.” It won Page her first Grammy award the following year for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance.
In 2000, she released the album “Brand New Tennessee Waltz” on which she collaborated with established country music artists like bluegrass legend Alison Kraus and Trisha Yearwood of “How Do I Live” fame.
“Patti Page: The Greatest Hits Tour” is produced by All Access Productions. Tickets are available at all SM Ticketnet outlets and at the Araneta Coliseum Box-Office.
