She has had enough.
Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo on Wednesday vowed to stand up against fake news being circulated against her and her family.

Speaking in a forum, Robredo said she would no longer let purveyors of fake news and her bashers to go on with their "vicious lies and ridiculous fabrications" on social media.
“Dati sabi namin na hayaan lang namin. Huwag i-dignify kasi lalaki lang. We might lose our focus on the work we do. Para hindi ‘yun mabuti, para nagkamali kami na hinayaan lang namin,” she said.
(Before we just said let it pass. We should not dignify it because it would only be blown up. We might lose our focus on the work we do. It seems that’s bad, it’s a mistake that we ignored it.)
“Marami sa mga nabibiktimang tao na hindi tayo kilala, Dahil iyong lang naririnig niya, akala niya totoo. So mga two weeks ago I started to fight back,” the Vice President said.
(Many of the people victimized don’t know us. Because that’s the only thing they hear, they thought it’s true. So two weeks ago I started to fight back.)
Cheers and applause greeted this part of Robredo’s statement at the forum of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) in Manila, where she was the guest of honor.
The Vice President shared to the audience that she has been the subject of unfounded rumors, fake news, and bashing on social media almost two years into her term.
Robredo just recently addressed a newspaper column linking her and the Liberal Party, which she chairs, to the recent European Parliament’s resolution against the drug killings under the Duterte administration.
The 53-year-old former housing chief denied meeting any European Parliament officials during her trip to Berlin, Germany last month.
Robredo emphasized the fight for the truth is the obligation of every Filipino people.
“It is destroying not just my life but everyone’s peace and tranquility. We need to confront these lies and unmask them for what they are,” the Vice President said.
She called to task the participants of the forum to be “bearers of lights and truth for others” and to “continue to strive together towards achieving the real change that this country needs.”
