Hurt for not being invited to her wedding?

Reports say Judy Ann Santos’ producers, associates and friends in show business were hurt for not being invited to her wedding to Ryan Agoncillo last Tuesday, April 28, in San Juan, Batangas.
Many were expecting that Mother Lily, who produced many of Juday’s earlier movies (she is also the producer of the forthcoming comedy “Oh My Girl!” which co-stars Juday and good friend Ogie Alcasid), would be one of the principal sponsors. But she wasn’t, and like many, like Juday’s manager, Alfie Lorenzo, she must have been caught by surprise by the sudden schedule of the wedding.
Alfie said there will be two wedding receptions for the couple’s showbiz friends and associates, fans and the media so nobody should feel hurt.
It’s really hard to keep a celebrity wedding a secret but Judy Ann and Ryan got what they wanted and worked for: A simple, quiet and solemn wedding, very much unlike past showbiz weddings where pandemonium ruled no matter how the concerned wanted to make the occasion peaceful. (We remember attending the Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion wedding at the Manila Cathedral and we found it so difficult to enter the church with the thousands of avid fans pushing their way inside. Even Mother Lily had a real hard time getting in. Another celebrity wedding where guests and the entourage were mobbed by an uncontrollable crowd was that of Imelda Papin and Bong Carrion, now governor of Marinduque, also at the Manila Cathedral. Sad to note, both weddings did not last.)
Not really a sunrise wedding
Juday and Ryan’s wedding was not really a sunrise wedding (although it was planned to be at 6 a.m.) but an after-sunrise wedding, because it was held at 7 a.m., when the sun has already risen. Because the officiating priest, Fr. Tito Caluag who is the spiritual adviser of the couple, was a little late. Speaking of sunrise weddings, the most unusual that we were a witness of was that of superstar Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon, who was then just making a name as an actor. The wedding was held in a beach in La Union and we waded through the cold waters till we were knee-deep in it. It wasn’t even 6 o’clock in the morning when Guy and Boyet said “I Do.”
Unusual wedding souvenir
Juday and Ryan’s wedding souvenirs which went with the invitation that was also unique in its wordings and design were rubber slippers. Many raised eyebrows, because superstitious belief has it that if we give someone a pair of shoes or slippers it could bring us bad luck – if the recipient doesn’t return the favor with a coin.
No nuptial arrangement
When asked if they ever signed any nuptial agreement before their wedding, Juday told magazine and business columnist Wilson Lee Flores: “We never even discussed it. I believe if both people going into marriage trust each other, like I do completely trust Ryan, then a pre-nuptial agreement is not necessary.”
On his part, Ryan told associate editor Gabby Libarios: “Four years ago, you probably heard me talk about her being maalaga. Multiply that by 365 days and then four years, ganun kalalim na ‘yun. She’s still the same person that I fell in love with before. So lumalim lang talaga ‘yung appreciation ko sa mga traits niya na nagugustuhan ko sa kanya.”
Work as usual for the couple
When everything has calmed down and the excitement of their weding somehow subsided, it would be return-to-work for both Ryan and Juday. The latter will resume shooting “Oh My Girl!” with Ogie Alcasid.
By the way, Juday is also a sought-after product endorser and a no-nonsense entrepreneur and businesswoman. Her latest “baby” is the Judy Ann Collection by Scents and Blends which has proven her business acumen as well as her drawing power. Juday is proud and comfortable working with Scents and Blends on a local fragrance collection that bears her name. A professed lover of distinctive scents, Juday relates to the three variants under her collection. “In Love” is light, refreshing and flowery that’s suitable for the office; “Serenity” comes with a hint of romance that’s perfect for evenings; while “Euphoria” is a citrusy scent to wear while having fun outdoors. All three are available at Scents and Blends fragrance bars in select malls.
When asked which among the three scents reflect her current state of mind, Juday replied without any hesitation “Serenity.” She explained: “I have reached the point in my life when I can say that I know and like myself. I have set plans, foremost of which is my settling down with Ryan and raising a family. Towards this, I know the necessity of expanding my horizon by going into business to secure the future.”
Juday appreciates the viability of going into the personal care business given the boom in the industry. “It is critical to find the right business partner that can come up with quality products that enjoy wide acceptance of the market, and sets the trend. And Scents and Blends fits the bill to a T, providing opportunities for entrepreneurs like me,” she said.
Juday also noted the marketing edge of Scents and Blends, with the acquisition of prestigious brands High School Musical, Hannah Montana from Walt Disney, Looney Tunes from Warner Bros., MYX and Coverboys from ABS-CBN, as well as the Fanny Serrano hair and foot care lines, affording the company a competitive advantage.
Scents and Blends, by the way, is open to franchising and dealership.
