BFP steps up inspection of schools and dormitories
ANTIPOLO CITY – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has intensified the inspection of schools, dormitories, and commercial establishments to ensure compliance with fire-safety regulations and standards.
BFP also announced that it is conducting here on June 2-6 a strategic and planning seminar-workshop that would aim to develop specific and necessary plans and programs for the prompt and proper implementation of Republic Act 9514 or the "Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008."
Acting BFP director Chief Supt. Rolando Bandilla, Jr., said that the seminar, dubbed "CY 2009 Strategic Planning Seminar Workshop," focuses on the formulation of plans, programs and projects that would facilitate comprehensive enforcement of the amended fire code and its implementing rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, BFP regional directors Chief Supt. Ariel Barayuga (Region IV-A), Chief Supt. Samuel Perez (Region. 12), Sr. Supt. Norman Pinion (Region IV-B), Sr. Supt. Aloveel Ferrer (Region 7), Sr. Supt. Manuel Baduria (Cordillera Administrative Region), and Sr. Supt. Warlito Daus (Caraga) led the personnel of their regional offices in intensifying the re-inspection of schools, universities, dormitories, and commercial establishments in their areas.
The inspection is intended to ensure strict compliance with fire safety regulations and standards and protection of students.
The officers warned that any establishment found opening without complying with mandatory fire-safety requirements would be dealt with accordingly.
