Pacquiao’s next fight maybe moved to Nov.
Now that Manny Pacquiao has expressed his desire to wait for the outcome of the July 18 super-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez, Hall of Fame promoter disclosed yesterday that in the event the Filipino picks either one the fight will be held on Nov. 14.
But if Pacquiao makes a sudden change and decides to make a choice within the next two weeks or immediately after another major match – the June 13 duel between Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey at Madison Square Garden in New York, Arum said the original date of Oct. 17 will be retained.
Regardless of who Pacquiao fights next, Arum said the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will be the venue “even if Pacquiao picks Cotto” as opponent.
The MGM Grand was where Pacquiao fought the last time, an easy second-round destruction of British Ricky Hatton last May 2.
Arum said that Pacquiao and wife Jinkee and some close aides will be going to New York directly from Manila tomorrow or Tuesday possibly via Northwest Airlines.
Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer the last eight years, will also be on hand to get his third Trainer of the Year trophy.
