500 residents benefit from medical mission

CABARROGUIS, Quirino – OceanaGold Philippines, in collaboration with the Quirino provincial government, sponsored recently a medical-dental-optical mission in Barangay Debibi, this town.

The mission, headed by Dr. Mila J. Villar, was held in partnership with the Cabarroguis rural health unit and the Debibi barangay council. It benefited over 500 residents.

OceanaGold operates the Didipio gold-copper project located in Barangay Didipio, Nueva Vizcaya and is an active partner in a number of community projects in Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.

Last May 11, the firm also hosted a medical-dental-optical mission in Barangay Didipio that benefited some 220 residents. "Alay sa Ina at sa Anak’’ was the theme of the two health missions.

Provincial and town officials, among them Board Member Gerry Pagbilao (representing Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Junie Cua, Barangay Captain Narciso Kitan, and Bhello Montemayor, principal of the Dibibi Integrated School, lauded OceanaGold for sponsoring the mission.

In conjunction with the town’s fiesta, OceanaGold, together with officials of Barangay Dabibi, also undertook a reforestation activity, planting some 5,000 seedlings in the community.
