While she may not see eye-to-eye with President Rodrigo Duterte on some issues, Vice President Ma. Leonor Robredo continues to have trust in his office.
“I can’t afford not to. Tayong lahat (All of us) I think we have to cling to the last thread,” Robredo said.

The Vice President was speaking with ANC’s Tina Monzod-Palma during a one-on-one interview at the Quezon City Reception House, where she holds office.
She was featured Wednesday night on the pilot episode of ANC’s Independence Day series.
Robredo, who was a congresswoman from Camarines Sur, said she does not spend most of her time trying to analyze the President since she has no capacity to do so.
“I try not to make any judgments. Sa akin gagawin ko lang ‘yun nararapat kong gagawin (For me, I will just do what I need to do)…Whatever good I can do even given the many constraints being thrown my way gagawin ko (I will do it),” she said.
Robredo resigned from the Cabinet in December 2016 as housing chief after receiving orders from Malacañang for her to stop attending Cabinet meetings.
The Vice President has expressed her dissent on various issues that surfaced in the current administration.
Among these were extrajudicial killings brought on by the drug war, reviving the death penalty, foreign relations, martial law in Mindanao, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ state burial, and sexist remarks against women.
Just recently, she was vocal against the ouster of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno from the Supreme Court via the quo warranto petition, saying that the High Court decision “brazenly trampled the Constitution.”
Yet, while opposing some of his administration's policies, Robredo also repeatedly said she was supportive of the President.
“Kapag may ginagawa na tama (If they are doing something right) you support it, but kapag mali naman dapat hindi matakot (if it is wrong you should not be afraid) to say your piece in the strongest term possible,” said the Vice President.
