495 Lanao students get scholarships
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – At least 495 students received their Pangulong Gloria Scholarship Certificates (PGSC) during last Friday’s celebration of the 111th Philippine Independence Day in Lanao del Norte.
Those who got their scholarship certificates came from Lanao del Norte National Agro-Industrial School in Bualan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte; the North Central Mindanao Colleges; and the Christ the King College de Maranding in the municipality of Lala in Lanao del Norte.
It was gathered that some of the certificates were awarded at the Lala municipal grounds in Lala, Lanao del Norte.
Meanwhile, scholars from the municipality of Bacolod in Lanao del Norte also received their scholarship certificates, in line with the “Balik Buhay sa Mindanao,” a community-based training on haircutting, and “Sa Tek Bok May Hanapbuhay Ka” program on beauty care.
The program aims at reducing the unemployment and underemployment rate in the area by helping students and local populace get immediate employment.
Priority courses identified by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) are shielded metal arc welding, automotive servicing, construction services, bartending, electronics, agriculture and fishery, health and community development, information technology, tourism and maritime.
In a related development, the TESDA in Lanao del Sur also distributed scholarship certificates during the Freedom Day celebration last Friday.
Lanao del Sur TESDA Provincial Director Tarhata S. Mapandi said the Provincial and City Manpower Center in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, respectively, distributed the certificates during the program.
