Singer-actor Ogie Alcasid is happy that former wife, Michelle Van Eimeren is tying the knot with beau, Mark Murrow.

In a quick interview aired on GMA 7, Alcasid related that he only has best wishes for the couple who are planning to wed in November.

It must be recalled that Regine Velasquez, Ogie’s current flame, had once said of Michelle’s fiance: “Oo, ang bait din ni Mark at sabi niya (Mark), love daw niya si Ogie. Hindi ba weird?”

Mark first set foot on local shores on September 2008 when he and Michelle, together with her kids by Ogie (Leila and Sarah) arrived in the country to attend Ogie’s anniversary concert, “Twenty/Twenty.“

The former Mrs. Alcasid stayed for two weeks. During interviews, she said nice things about the country, her ex-husband, and Regine whom she calls “Mare.”

Note that even before her arrival, Michelle had actually been quoted that she loves the Songbird.

“Gusto (kong) malaman ng mga tao, si Regine, family ko yun, ” Michelle said in a phone patch aired on Sunday variety show, “SOP.”

“For me, kung si Regine ang mahal niya (Ogie), ako rin tanggapin niya. Parang sister ko yun (Regine), so please tanggapin mo siya. Huwag mo siyang bigyan ng hard time. Mabait yun (Regine), mabait siya sa akin, sa mga anak ko. Pag dating siya dito (Australia), lagi kaming Masaya,” said Michelle.

Addressing Regine, Michelle continued: “Mahal ka namin… Si Sarah at si Leila, they love you very much din.”

Regine, on her part, confirmed that she and Michelle are indeed good friends. “Si Michelle ang isa sa pinakamabait na taong na-meet ko in my whole life. Ang bait-bait niya talaga.”

Looking back, Ogie Alcasid and Michelle Van Eimeren, who met in 1994 when the Miss Universe tilt was held here, were married in 1998 in Batangas, Ogie’s province. They quietly separated in 2003.

Australian Law permits Michelle to wed again as her marriage to Ogie is officially divorced in said country.

However, Ogie is still working on the annulment of that same marriage locally.

When asked about their plans to marry, Regine had implied that she and Ogie are merely waiting for the annulment to be finalized, and that she virtually has the blessings of Michelle.

“We still have to settle a lot of things. Pero napag-usapan na rin naman namin iyon ni Michelle noong una pa lang akong pumunta sa Australia,” Regine said.
