SAN MARCELINO, ZAMBALES – A 61-year-old barangay captain was arrested by the Zambales Provincial Police Office (ZPPO) after violating Commission on Election (Comelec) Resolution No. 10015 or the election gun ban on Tuesday.

According to ZPPO Chief Police Sr. Supt. Felix Verbo Jr., Barangay Aglao chairman Eduardo Lopez Sr. was arrested when police confiscated from him a .45 caliber Colt pistol with six pieces of magazines, four empty .45 caliber shells, 89 pieces of .45 caliber bullets, a .25 caliber pistol with magazine assembly.
Also found in his possession were two pieces of live ammo for a 12-gauge shotgun, one live ammo for a 20-gauge shotgun, an unknown live ammo, a live ammo for an M203 40mm grenade launcher, 101 pieces of 5.56 ammunition, 53 pieces of caliber .22 ammo, three live caliber .22 ammo, ten caliber .38 ammo, four 9mm rounds, five caliber .25 rounds, a live caliber .32 ammo, and five magazines for an M16 rifle.
The suspect and the confiscated firearms were taken to the San Marcelino Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. A case for Violation of RA 10591 is being prepared for filing against the suspect before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Olongapo City.
“This accomplishment is one of the significant activities undertaken by ZPPO to combat criminality within the province and to ensure a secure and fair election or SAFE2019,” Verbo said.
