Cruising goes 'High at 10!'
Cruising Magazine, the motor travel magazine of the Manila Bulletin, took motoring adventure to higher ground for its 10th Cross Country anniversary issue with a road series featuring some of the country’s highest and most famous peaks.
The issue, dubbed Cruising High at 10!, showcased eight famous trekking trails for all kinds of adventurer. Those trails are located in different parts of the country that one can reach onboard a trusted vehicle.
The issue marked Cruising’s spot in the world of Philippine travel – it is the only motor travel magazine! It has covered 120,000 kilometers of land travel during its 10-year cruise, not counting the nautical miles onboard the RORO ferry!
With Isuzu Philippines Corp. providing the team with reliable vehicles and powered by Chevron’s Power Diesel B1, Cruising took the rugged D-Max Boondock and executive Alterra SUV to the elevations of Mt. Pulag in Northern Luzon, Mt. Banahaw in Dolores, Quezon, Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon, and Mt. Samat in Bataan.
The team also covered trail stories of Taal Volcano in Talisay, Batangas; Mt. Makiling in Laguna and Mt. Iraya in Batanes.
The High at 10! anniversary event was organized to capture the pleasure only a mountain adventure could bring – the beauty of nature hidden in the forests, the satisfaction of pushing one’s physical limits just to reach the top, and the awe of seeing daybreak so close to the sky.
During those mountain experiences, the team discovered the Philippines' many beautiful peaks, and that one doesn’t have to be a serious trekker or mountaineer to unravel what it has to offer.
Most have easy trails for first-time adventurers, and almost all have ranger stations that provide help and information for anyone who wishes to climb. Available information is also a click away as various websites offer tips on different climbs.
The mountains featured have friendly trails and are easy to reach with a vehicle.
The destinations have convenient stopovers along the way where travelers can go for fuel, food and supplies such as the Caltex service stations along the South and North Luzon Expressways. Most Caltex Service Stations accept Star Cards for hassle-free transactions.
The team felt confident of being almost close to civilization with the strong signal of their Smart mobile lines even at thousands of feet above sea level.
With all these conveniences, Cruising’s High at 10! issue serves as a testimony that anyone with a heart for adventure can conquer any peak.
The issue is also an invitation for readers to take their vehicles, go on a ride and complete a thrilling climb up the beautiful mountains of the Philippines.
The Isuzu High at 10! of the Cruising Cross Country 10th anniversary issue is sponsored by Isuzu Philippines Corporation, Chevron Philippines and Smart Communications.
Cruising’s July issue is now available in major bookstores and magazine stands all over the country.
