Which House leader did Rex approach on his last day as congressman?

Rex Gatchalian spent his last day at the House of Representatives Wednesday, Feb. 1 as he had to vacate his seat upon being appointed as Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary by MalacaÃ±ang.

"Formally bowed out of Congress yesterday," the erstwhile Valenzuela City 1st district representative wrote in a Facebook post Thursday, Feb. 2.

He then dropped by the office of a certain House leader whom he thought would be of great help to him in his duty to serve as many Filipinos as he can in his new role as DSWD head honcho.

"Took the opportunity to drop by the office of Chairman Cong. Ria Vergara (she is the chairwoman of the Committee on Social Welfare Services in the House) to discuss collaboration," Gatchalian bared.

"I'm a firm believer of Executive-Legislative collaboration to find solutions to everyday social welfare problems. Looking forward to working with you Chairman Vergara!!!" he said.

Gatchalian sai it was a "bonus" that their other fellow congressmen were inside Vergara's office when he linked up with the lady solon from Nueva Ecija's 3rd district.

Gatchalian had to vacate his House seat following his appointment as DSWD secretary.
