Members of the Special Task Force created by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) against syndicates producing counterfeit 1,000-peso bill arrested six persons in a raid they conducted in Las Piñas City Thursday morning.

NCRPO Director, Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales identified the suspects as Francis Sescon, 53, of Marallin II, Assumption, Antipolo City; Bernardo Cruz, 50, of Munting Bayan Subdivision, Sariaya, Quezon; Leoner Sadoral, alias Nomer, 36, of Bangkal, Makati City; Jhon Caparuto, 25, driver, of Barangay Riverside, San Pedro, Laguna; Alfredo Argao, 64, of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City; and Antonio Laurente, 56, of Arcadia Village, Bacoor Cavite.

Rosales said the task force was able to confiscate from the suspects P2.1 million worth of fake P1,000 bills.

It was learned that prior to the arrest of the five other suspects, Cruz was first arrested after an eatery in Manila filed a complaint against him for using fake P1,000 bills.

During his arrest, Manila Police District Police (MPD) found in the possession of Cruz three more fake P1,000 bills and admitted that he bought the fake money for P300 each.

Cruz told police that his source of fake money was a group of syndicate manufacturing counterfeit money based in Las Piñas City.

The arrested suspect told arresting MPD police that the syndicate base in Las Piñas City was also the group responsible for the proliferation of counterfeit money all over Metro Manila.
