More music artists to visit Manila
It’s going to be an exciting August 2009 in the live concert scene as more foreign artists of different music backgrounds set out to electrify Manila.
Nine Inch Nails’ “Wave Goodbye” concert, August 5, Araneta Coliseum
Splintr.com and MTV Philippines proudly bring this American post-industrial group that’s known for such haunting singles as “Wish,” “Hurt,” “Perfect Drug,” and “The Hand that Feeds.”
The show comes in the heels of its lead singer’s announcement that they will soon take a sabbatical indefinitely. Pupil will front act the show.
It’s interesting to see how this concert will turn out because niche artists such as Nine Inch Nails rarely get to visit our shores.
A successful turnout might entice other cutting edge acts to visit here.
“Lady Gaga in Manila!” August 11, Araneta Coliseum
This electro-dance diva has rocketed up the pop charts with so many hits in such a short span of time. Among these are “Just Dance,” “Pokerface,” “Paparazzi,” and “Love Game,” which are all culled from her breakthrough CD, ”The Fame.”
Lady Gaga has been known to turn performances into musical extravaganzas that earn raves. Check out her “US The Fame Ball Tour .
Also, asked the Pussycat Dolls who are said to have been upstaged by Lady Gaga several times.
“Esperanza Spalding in Manila,” August 15, Sofitel Philippine Plaza
At the age of 21, Spalding is Berkley’s youngest professor. She is also is one of the brightest names in jazz today, thanks to her hybrid of Midtown and jazz music.
On August 15, Filipinos will see just why she became one, when the critically acclaimed jazz bassist-singer performs live songs from her albums, “Junco” and “Esperanza.”
Spalding, one of the shows’ sponsors, will hold a bass clinic for ticket holders in the afternoon of the show date. Non-ticket holders who are interested to join the bass clinic will need to pay for the lessons.
