Tri-annual Bohol gathering set

Former Bohol residents in Metro Manila and elsewhere in the Philippines and from around the world will gather for a grand reunion on July 14-26, 2009. The gathering known as Tapok Bol-Anon Tikbuok Kalibutan (TBTK) is held here every three years.

Scheduled for July 14, is wreath laying at the President Carlos P. Garcia Filipino First monument on CPG Ave., Taguig City.

Lunch for the visitors will follow, offered by the Secretary of Tourism, and then a 2 p.m. official visit at Heroes Hall, Malacañang, led by Rep. Edgar Chatto. Thereafter, the visitors return to their respective towns for scheduled activities.

On July 25, the group will meet again for evening socials, including formal presentation of Awards for Outstanding Boholanos at the Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City.

The group will have a float in the annual Sandugo affair on July 26, 2009, in Tagbilaran City. This event commemorates the first foreign treaty of friendship, the Blood Compact, between Datu Sikatuna and the Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.

As in previous years, members of civic organizations, the business sector, and schools will participate in street parades and programmed activities. These activities are coordinated by local officials congressional district representatives, Gov. Erico B. Aumentado, the MMDA, and the Bohol Metro Manila Association, headed by its president, Genju Lapez, EVP, Union Bank.
