ANTIPOLO CITY- The provincial government based in this city on Tuesday afternoon (June 16) offered a cash reward to anyone who can provide authorities with leads to the identity of the culprit in the attempt to kill Teresa Municipal Mayor Raul Palino.
The provincial government issued a statement on its Facebook page that the capitol, along with the 14 local government units in the province, are condemning the murder try on the mayor that resulted in the wounding of his two aides. The mayor survived the attempt on his life.
The capitol also mentioned in the same post that it is offering a cash reward for those who will pinpoint the suspect or suspects in the attempt to kill Palino, who was earlier included in President Duterte's drug watch list.
Palino was riding in his van when his vehicle was sprayed with bullets in Barangay Poblacion in Teresa, injuring his driver and a security aide late Monday afternoon (June 15).
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (RPPO) has created a task force to investigate the murder try on Palino as authorities have secured the mayor’s residence as part of the peace and order measures of the police.
PPO Director Police Col. Renato Alba said the investigators are trying to establish the motive while an in-depth investigation is being conducted to identify and locate the suspects' whereabouts.
The office of Police Capt. Emmarie Ablao, Teresa Municipal Police Station chief, told Manila Bulletin that PPO officials were still in a conference meeting regarding Palino’s ambush as of Tuesday afternoon.
