Girl hangs self over rift with boyfriend
After days without contact since they last argued, Paul Derrick Tan decided Tuesday night to patch up with his girlfriend Pamela Ann Bunagan only to find out that it was too late.
Investigator PO3 Joseph Madrid said that Bunagan was found dead at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday night after she was believed to have taken her own life inside her house at16-A Malong St., Barangay Marilag, Quezon City.
Madrid said that Bunagan had one end of a nylon cord tied around her neck and the other end to the wooden beam of a cabinet.
Investigator believed that the girl, who worked as medical representative for a pharmaceutical firm, might have taken her life because of the rift between her and Tan.
He learned from Tan that the couple had a fight and had not seen and contacted each other since the last argument.
Despite this, Tan told police that he decided to be the first one to make peace with his girlfriend when he went to her house Tuesday night. Arriving at past 10 p.m., Tan was welcomed into the house by Bunagan’s father who told him to wait at the living room while he called his daughter.
After waiting for some time, the boyfriend got impatient and decided to go up to the room of his girlfriend on the second floor.
When no one responded to his knocks, Tan asked a maid to get the key to open the door and, after opening the room, they were shocked to find Bunagan hanging in her room. The boyfriend then started shouting for help and caught the attention of the girl’s parents.
After bringing her down, Bunagan was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Madrid learned from the girl’s parents that they last saw her alive Tuesday morning when she left for work. The parents said they only heard the girl parked her car at 9 p.m. after, they believed, she arrived from work.
