What’s a SoNA for?

For carpenters, masons, painters, gardeners, janitors at the Batasan to work overtime and be paid for it;

For the fashion designers and their league of seamstresses and embroiderers to show off their stylishness bit;

For those in the beauty parlor biz to put their best foot forward, even if only behind the political scene;

For the spouses of the most influential in the legislative, executive, and judiciary to see and be seen;

For that burgeoning industry of effigy makers, sign painters and tarp manufacturers to earn an extra buck;

To give the ever-growing army of protesters and rallyists, pro and am, a real big reason to display their pluck;

For cops and soldiers to show their restraint and tolerance in crowd control while the TV cameras
grind;

To let diplomats and expats experience our kind of democracy – a showcase, a festival? Never mind;

To give TV audiences at home a glimpse of the elite in motion, in action, arriving in swanky cars galore;

For the President’s ghost writers to flex their writing muscles, sharpen their pens with renewed ardor;

For her critics to find fresh ways and words to snipe at her hair, makeup and gown with utter disdain;

For political, umm, commentators  to exercise their wit and punditry in the most quotable quotes and quips;

For the Chief to report to the nation, knowing or not wanting to know that to most, her sentences are mere blips;

So what’s a Sona for if not to hype a voice clip?
