Like his songs we hear on the radio and from our CDs, we may not see him, but Ogie Alcasid’s presence is all over. The same way when he portrays a woman role, a female teenager or even a cross-dresser, Ogie simply vanishes as he gives life to his characters.

It was not surprising then when Ogie Alcasid wasn’t around during the press conference of Regal Films’ “Oh My Girl (OMG),” but his character, Frida, the pretend-woman that works as the personal assistant to Judy Ann Santos’ character was there.

So how does Ogie felt that he has been getting roles of a woman or a cross-dresser?

“Kasi yung last role ni Ogie ‘yung Lugaluda siya sa ‘Desperadas 2,’ alam mo na nagka-marka. Siguro naisip ni Mother Lily na bigyan siya ng isa pang movie. Nagkataon lang na ang naisip na story ay ‘yung lalaki na nagiging babae. Tapos sa TV naman, si Angelina bigla na lang sumikat hindi naman sinasadya,” Ogie as Frida replied.

In the wholesome comedy “Oh My Girl,” Ogie Alcasid had to transform into Frida in order to get close once again to his childhood friend Darling, now a superstar, played by Judy Ann Santos.

According to Frida, unlike Lugaluda, Ogie’s role in “OMG” is very different. In the film as Frida, she is more nurturing and caring to her childhood friend. In fact Frida was made to look old because she should be someone Darling could get comfortable with and respect as well.

“Si Darling kasi because of her stardom wala ng totoo sa kanya. So si Frida gustong ipakita sana ‘yung totoong pagmamahal but the problem is hindi siya totoong babae,” Frida said with lament.

And, has playing women role became easier for Ogie?

“No. Kahit mukhang natural na sa kanya, mahirap. Biro mo araw-araw kang may make-up. Naisip ko tuloy ang hirap palang maging babae,” he sighed.

With regards though to Regine (Velasquez, his ladylove), Frida expressed that she’s been used to seeing her beau cross-dress even before.

“Naloloka ‘yang si Ogie pag nagsasama sila ni Regine kasi iba na magsalita at nahihirapan ng tanggalin yon,” smiled Frida. “Pero pag Halloween Party nila lagi pinagbibihis ng babae si Ogie.”

On a serious note, Ogie is grateful for doing another movie under Regal Films especially that his leading lady is no other than Judy Ann Santos.

In an interview he expressed, “I am very thankful to Juday for accepting this movie. I admire her versatility as an actress because she can work on dramatic scenes and comedy sequences with much ease. For me, she is an excellent actress!”

If you have become a fan though of Ogie Alcasid as a woman, then better watch “OMG” because this could be one of his last films as a woman. (The film “Ang Spoiled Brat” is already in the works.)

“Itong taon na ito huli na ito for Ogie. Next year baka monster naman,” laughed Frida. “Wag na muna siguro dahil baka magsawa na ang mga tao at baka matuluyan na. Alam mo mahanginan ka lang ng konti babae ka na!”

The truth though is that Ogie Alcasid felt that he has pushed himself hard to become a TV and movie actor. He has been working daily that he hardly has time to rest.

“Ogie will take a rest muna kasi medyo sumobra ngayon kasi walang araw na may pahinga siya. Araw-araw nagtratrabaho siya. Last na ito kasi tatapusin pa niya ‘yung album niya. Nagkasabay-sabay lang talaga at nagkapatong-patong lang. Pagkatapos ng ‘Hole in the Wall’ meron pang ‘Celebrity Duets,’” Frida revealed.

So why put Ogie Alcasid and Juday in a movie?

According to Regal Films producers Mother Lily Monteverde and Roselle Monteverde-Teo, the two are the perfect match for “a comedy with a heart.” They described it as a “different laugh story” that moviegoers can relate to. “OMG,” directed by Dante Nico Garcia, is also their tribute to the people who have always supported Regal Films through the decades!

Also in the cast of “OMG!” are Roderick Paulate, Carmi Martin, John Prats, Nova Villa, and Frenchie Dy plus Songbird Regine Velasquez and Megastar Sharon Cuneta in cameo appearances.

So how’s the sex life of Frida?

“Zero! Ayaw ko namang magbayad. Gusto ko mamahalin ako,” Frida said, blushing!

“OMG” will have its premiere showing Monday (July 27) at 7 p.m. at Trinoma’s Cinema 7. Its regular run will start on July 29 in theaters nationwide.
