Five members of the so-called Termite gang who robbed a Chinabank branch last weekend were arrested by the Quezon City police.
The five suspects, who were allegedly dug their way into the Chinabank branch along Commonwealth Avenue corner Camaro Street were arrested while lingering in the vicinity of another bank they were planning to rob Tuesday night.
QCPD director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar presented to the media the fiver arrested suspects, Jordan Duldulao, Melbert Bautista, Allyson Aligan, all from Ilocos Sur, and Gearldine Bawas and Ambrose Rex Layao, both from Baguio City.
Supt. Rodelio Marcelo, chief of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, received a tip from an informant Monday night that the suspects were planning to rob a BDO branch along EDSA corner New York Street in Barangay E. Rodriguez.
Operatives immediately manned the area the following day. At around 6:30 p.m., a gray vehicle with plate number AHN 858, arrived and parked on a sidewalk adjacent to the bank.
The arrested men said they only served as lookouts in the Chinabank heist.
Further investigation led the police to the suspects' hideout in San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan, where hydraulic jacks, crow bars, mallets, metal saws, screw drivers and pliers were found.
