Designer alternatives to the high street

There's no beating around the bush with Eric Delos Santos’s offering for Holiday 2009. Going back to essentials with jerseys and simple shapes, it’s all about linearity with straight-edge color blockings and high street-inspired, slashed pieces in body con silhouettes. Softness came in draped tops or accents like a twisted, built-in belt or asymmetric contrast overlays.

Knotted strings gave texture on the décolletage and served as fringy accents to the clutches. There’s no subversive meaning here, as the message is quite clear. Delos Santos is dipping his hands in ready to wear, because, obviously, these are pieces made for the girl about town too busy to sit down, she’d rather pick one off the rack.

Designer choices as an alternative to high street fashion, of course, are much more tasteful and atypical. And, with these in the style smorgasbord, it’s accessible, on-trend, fierce feminine sexuality that’s easy to get without the fear of looking like every other girl in the party.
