The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has mobilized its Zambales and Olongapo Disaster Response Teams (DRT) to help the evacuation of 360 families in the eight barangays that have been affected by the storm.

PNRC Communications Manager Alexander Rosete said the DRTs have been asked to assist the families affected by the flooding in several areas in Zambales and Olongapo.

The PNRC Zambales chapter reported that the Eastern part of the dike situated in Barangay San Juan, Botolan was damaged causing flood in barangays Carael, San Juan, Paudpod, Batonlapoc, Paco, San Miguel, Capayawan and Tampo.

"The PNRC Zambales chapter Disaster Response Team (DRT) and volunteers of Olongapo chapter joined forces in helping in the evacuation of 260 families affected. They were temporarily housed in four designated evacuation centers namely Botolan North Elementary School, Botolan South Elementary School, Botolan Gymnasium and Porac Elementary School," Rosete said adding that there were still no confirmed deaths in Zambales as of press time.

The PNRC Zambales chapter has also begun dispensing relief goods to the affected families Friday.

PNRC Chairman Senator Richard Gordon asked PNRC Zambales and Olongapo chapters to continuously monitor the effect of the flooding in Zambales amid the heavy downpour.

“We enjoin staff and volunteers of Red Cross in Zambales and Olongapo to be alert 24 hours a day and continue to monitor the affected areas. We should always be prepared to act immediately for any untoward incident,” Gordon said in a statement.

PNRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang assured the public that rescue equipment and vehicles shall be on stand by for possible operation or deployment.

“Let us all continue to monitor, coordinate and report status of evacuees, overflow of dams, landslides, floods and general conditions to the PNRC National Headquarters Operation Center,” Pang said.
