The first-ever disaster visibility information system in the country was launched by the local government unit (LGU) of Taguig City on Thursday.

The Taguig Weather Monitoring System, according to the Taguig LGU, is the first of its kind technology in the country that gives real-time, 24/7 feeds from cameras placed in 100 locations in the city.
It can be utilized in localized flood monitoring, hazard mapping and even in daily community weather updates, providing potent information to complement information from national agencies such as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the LGU said.
“ Taguig Weather Monitoring System can show the distance of the eye of a storm to a specific area, and allows for accurate six-hour weather forecasts and weather reports for up to a 15-day time period.”
Moreover, the local government said it also has earthquake analytics from specific areas in Taguig City, saying it can show the exact distance of an earthquake's epicenter to a specific place in the city.
A total of 100 monitoring cameras have been installed all of the city which enables the local government to do data-backed decision-making in the event of disasters and calamities
The Taguig LGU said that live feeds from the cameras can be accessed on https://dvis-taguig.com.
Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano said that the Taguig Weather Monitoring System emphasizes Taguig's agenda of an LGU that is more proactive in dealing with disaster resilience, response, and prevention.
"This is a breakthrough in the country's disaster preparedness because it provides localized and area-specific updates and we are happy Taguig is part of this historic occasion," he said in a statement.
The LGU revealed that the system’s mobile application will soon be available to the residents of Taguig.
