Originally created as skateboarding gear, DC Shoes now boasts of highly stylish garments, apparel, accessories, and footwear meant for everyday casuals. Its quality sneakers have been one of the brand’s bestselling merchandise since it started in the ‘90s. The brand has been known to collaborate with different artists and innovators. For 2009, its latest style fusions involve founder Ken Block, skateboarders Rob Dyrdek and Mike Blabac, emcee Jeru the Damaja, and graphic artists Sixpack France.

A rare breed in professional skateboarding, Rob Dyrdek has racked up his share of top, worldwide contest finishes, legendary video parts and endless magazine coverage. Dyrdek’s first shoe with DC, the Dyrdek1, came out in 1995, and was the first skate shoes to feature protective nylon lace loops.

One of the driving forces in the re-emergence of rap consciousness at the turn of the century, American emcee Jeru the Damaja has always stayed controversial. Considered to be one of the best rappers around, Jeru gained prominence in music during the ‘90s with hip hop classic albums. Today, Jeru has collaborated with Josh Kalis, a member of DC Shoes’ team of elite skateboarders, to design a high-performance shoe which fuses hip hop and skate cultures.

Mike Blabac is one of the preeminent figures in skateboard photography. Shooting for DC Shoes for 10 years, Blabac has long been a loyal contributor to the philosophy of the brand. This year, he released his first book Blabac Photo: The Art of Skateboarding Photography, and thus created a limited-edition sneaker to celebrate its availability in the market.

DC Shoes co-founder Ken Block designed a shoe that combined high performance with a healthy dose of style—everything Block and DC Shoes stand for. And for the Sixpack France collaboration, DC Shoes have manufactured the Non Merci line, which is composed of a stylish, new, high-top sneaker and matching reversible jacket. The shoes come with a grit all-over design and an exciting design on the sole.

DC Shoes is available at TriNoma Mall, Quezon City.
