Mandaluyong city council approves extension of deadline to pay local taxes

By Rizal Obanil The City Council of Mandaluyong approved an ordinance that extends the deadline of the payment of local taxes. Mandaluyong City Hall (WIKIPEDIA / MANILA BULLETIN) Mandaluyong City Hall (WIKIPEDIA / MANILA BULLETIN) The ordinance titled “An Ordinance Extending the Deadline for the Payment of Local Taxes without incurring Interests, Penalties or Surcharges due to COVID-19 or Ordinance No. 776 S-2020” was enacted on May 11, 2020. In a Facebook post Friday, a copy of the approved city ordinance showed that the ordinance was approved in compliance with a revenue regulations order issued by Department of Finance (DOF) extending “to June or July the submission or filing of necessary documents and/or payment of taxes required under the Tax Code of 1997.” Under the Sangguniang Panlungsod ordinance, the deadline for first quarter payment of Real Property Taxes which had a deadline of March 31, 2020 was moved to May 31, 2020. While the deadline for second quarter payment of the Real Property Tax on April 30, 2020 was moved to June 19, 2020. The second quarter payment of Business taxes on the other hand can now be paid on or before June 25, 2020. Transfer taxes can now be paid on or before June 25, 2020.
